Having a part time job whilst in full time education can be highly rewarding, on both work ethic and social levels. Improving your work ethic can have dramatically positive effects on how you integrate with society and especially your peers.
One of the biggest reasons why friendships and relationships fail to form is due to a lack of adequate conversation. This can be down to a few various reasons, but one of the most common is no available topics to the participants.
As you grow older and start working, you instantly begin to develop a higher work ethic, plus your mind set around college will begin to heighten. You'll view your daily routine as more valid and productive, find better ways to perform tasks and be able to make more time for your friends and family.
If you decide that you want to balance a part time job and your social life at an efficient rate, there are a few common practices to follow to make sure you don't fall behind in your college work, or start to slow down at work:
· Take an audit of your hours at work - Time is everything when you're working. Whether that would be college work or a part time job, make sure you're fully aware of what hours you're set to work. Every week when your shifts are updated at work, write a reminder in your phone or on a piece of paper and safely store it. This will mean that you can work out what time you have available for socialising. Remember to allot time away from work and friends to complete any work you have been assigned!
· Keep a diary of the work assigned to you - Most, if not all colleges and universities will provide a diary or planner with a full academic's year of days. If you are given a piece of work to complete, write down when you were given it, enough detail to recall what needs to be done and then, write down when it needs to be handed in. Whether this be on the day of the work set, or on the due date of the work, write it down. Trust me, it helps.
· Take the time to work out when you're free - Even if you don't have enough time to go out and see your friends, try and talk to them on a form of instant messenger. It's not the same as seeing them in person, but we all need to take time away from working and it's a great alternative to spending the remainder of your free time thinking about what you need to do in a few hours!
Remember, over working yourself is never an option. Psychological reports show that if you work too hard, you can lose efficiency and it can be counter productive. Enjoy your time, after all, it's yours.
