The University Of Miami Is An Esteemed College That Offers A Multitude Of Options and Programs

The state of Florida is home to a number of great colleges and universities. One of those is the University of Miami. It has a student population of over 15,000 that come from all around the world. The University of Miami prides itself on being an institution that offers a diverse academic experience and focuses on teaching, learning, the discovery of knowledge, and service to the region of South Florida and beyond.

The University of Miami's is made up of twelve schools with over 180 majors and programs. It is currently ranked high on several best college lists and is ranked as the number one college in the state of Florida for a variety of reasons. One of those reasons is the fact that it has stellar graduate school programs.

The institution is made up of a total of five campuses that encompass 528 acres in the county of Miami-Dade. The main campus is called Coral Gables and is home to the university's School of Architecture, College of Arts and Science, School of Business Administration, School of Communication, School of Education, College of Engineering, School of Law, School of Music, and School of Nursing and Health Studies. The Coral Gables campus offers an assortment of museums, theatres, and art exhibitions. It offers an array of cultural and artistic offerings to its students and to the public as well.

The grounds also feature a prestigious medical campus called the Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine campus. It is located right outside the downtown sector of the city of Miami and sits on a total of 68 acres in the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center complex. The complex includes three University owned hospitals; University of Miami Hospital, the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the Anne Bates Leach Eye Hospital. The University is home to a 15-story clinical research building as well as a 9-story biomedical research institute.

The remaining campuses are the Rosenstiel, South, and Richmond campuses. The Rosenstiel campus houses the School of Marine and Atmospheric Science, which is located in Biscayne Bay on Virginia Key. The South campus opened in 1986 and provides six buildings and nearly 64,000 square feet for research and development projects. The Richmond campus, opened in 2001, is home to the research facilities for the Center for Southeastern Tropical Advanced Remote Sensing and the Richmond Satellite Operations Center.

The University of Miami has a myriad of achievements under its belt. Besides being the best college in the state of Florida, there are many other accomplishments the University has. The Anne Bates Leach Eye Hospital is home to the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, which has been ranked the number one ophthalmology hospital in the country for a straight seven years. The schools full-time Masters of Business Administration program is one of the top-most ranking M.B.A. programs as well.

Being that this establishment is a research university, it has conducted and funded many groundbreaking research projects. The University has put together the nation's first ever Therapeutic Jurisprudence Center in their School of Law. The center works on conducting both theoretical and empirical research using behavioral science tools and applying it to the understanding of laws. The University's Department of Energy also utilizes research. This department has awarded $1.7 million to researchers in order to create and investigate new ways of monitoring carbon dioxide leakage.
